Last thoughts of fallng autumn leaf

Drifting down from the heights,

I witnessed the dancing branches,

swaying to the streaming breeze,

bidding farewell, by waving twigs...

And I watched silently,

softly carried by the wind,

whispering words of praise,

of providing food & the shades.

The sky dazzles, with golden rays,

warming surface, one last time,

as moisture leaves, drying inside,

greenery lost to brownish sheen.

Further & further, distance grew,

from these crown, once I knew,

looking at trunk, on the sides,

getting distant, and I realized.

I was part, of a great tree,

working tirelessly, performing duty,

even in disruptions, bugs and bees,

yet being protected, from the threats.

So I reflect, on days that passed,

chills of nights, sunshine warmth,

listening pleasant sounds, nature's activities,

in the squeaks, whistles, chirruping outside.

Slowly I reached, felt the mound,

with fallen brethren, on the ground,

while earth beckoning, for my role,

there's one last task, left to be done...

In my last breath, still being content,

a life worthwhile, from birth to death,

so, let me assimilate, as I embrace,

the soil beneath, waiting for my decay.

Letting the nutrients, return to roots!
