In these peripheries, of our towns,
we might encounter, thatched house,
feeling curious, some pity may arouse,
explore it more, if we were allowed...
Kutcha house...
These traditional homes,
made of mud, straw or cow dungs,
with pillars of woods and bamboos,
and roofs, dried grass or palm leaves.
The earthen floor, has rough surface,
having courtyard & raised veranda,
rooms can be small, for some tasks,
yet, windows are open and large.
The further we move, away from cities,
we would realize, our bestowed luxuries,
might be paled, in comparison to features,
presenting ways, of harmonious coexistence.
Still, they were fading, in modern lifestyle,
losing its importance, with changing times,
gradually disconnected, from our traditions
after replacing it, with brick or concrete.
Still evokes, nostalgic memories,
when we visit, these familiar dwellings,
in exhibitions, as glimpses of heritage,
or in our journey, to distant villages.
A symbol of our cultural practices,
decorated with murals and painting,
being celebrated or frowned upon,
with a risk, of slowly lose significance...
Still they remain, deep in hearts,
standing proudly, as Kutcha house.
