Honeybee nest

Going on my routine walk,

I watched people gather around,

as some guys climbed the walls,

to destroy the bee nest on the top.

Hundreds of bees fallen on ground,

while they negotiate price of labor,

selling fresh honey and beeswax,

broken from collected beehives.

Witnessing the struggling bees,

I felt sadness, and some pity,

forcefully evicted from their dwellings,

being considered pest in urban settings.

Then again, they were desperate,

lost their habitat, to human activities,

while pollution and use of pesticides,

chased them to walls of buildings.

What's more alarming is their decline,

while we remain ignorant of the plight,

as studies find decrease in abundance,

of indigenous species of bee colonies.

So, I watched these gentle pollinators,

being exploited by human selfishness,

hoping they find better place to nest,

and not be invaded by our dominance.
