In the garden, they met,
two species, performing a duet,
one gentle soul in golden fur,
other, orange & black winged angel.
A garden teeming with life,
colorful flowers, a beautiful sight,
yet, few pots carry milkweed,
for ones, to wriggle on stems.
His soft eyes, watched silently,
protecting the caterpillar sanctuary,
from tiny eggs shining on leaves,
to the chrysalis, waiting to split.
There was a connection unseen,
when the monarchs break free,
a magical transformation unfold,
right in front of retriever's eyes.
So begins, a sweet friendship,
as butterfly flutters around it,
much to amusement of owners,
finding entertainment, in peaceful corners.
Like the advent of dawn rays,
bond gleams over flowerbeds,
as monarch rests on the head,
of an overjoyed golden retriever.
