Being negative

In this quest for self-improvement,

we might learn many lessons,

while some, were welcome additions,

there's much more, needing omissions.

Pride, a double edge sword...

Giving us a confidence boost,

yet, it's excess, make us blind,

to our reactions, to the surroundings.

Seeking perfection, we force opinions,

criticize mistakes, pointing the flaws,

we complain, giving honest reviews,

changing the flow, of our conversations.

Our body language, show subtle sign,

putting barriers, in non-verbal communications,

a close posture, and avoiding eye contact,

often seen, being uncomfortable or disinterested.

When we dominate the talk,

not giving others, chance to speak,

make others feel unimportant,

projecting a negative image of ourselves.

Communications, are a two-way street,

we need to give others, the deserved credit,

so, let's not ignore or dismiss feelings,

hurting others, from lack of empathy.

Then, there's fear, pulling us down,

we develop habits, focusing on negatives,

affecting ourselves, disappointing many,

as others perceive us as a weakling.

Even if we don't have these vices,

we would still be considered negative,

if our response to them is delayed,

or we don't actively engage with them.

So, in this quest of self-improvement,

we should cultivate self-awareness,

understand behaviors, we exhibit unconsciously,

and reflect on our habits...

Of being negative.
