What's in a personality test?
Dividing people in different sets,
depending on some inherent traits,
that putting labels on our faces,
helping us understand inner voices.
By ticking boxes, making our choices,
giving data to the programmed systems,
letting it evaluate, make an opinion,
from a snapshot of our thought process.
Myers and Briggs, with the colorful charts,
extraverts, introverts, playing their parts.
be it DISC, an employment attribute test,
or Eysenck's test for three elements.
Even business community built,
Hogan's personality inventory to succeed,
Enneagram's compass, a nine-pointed guide,
for our life's path, to be confined.
It's fun to explore and learn,
analyze self or other person,
still, a heart doubts and fears,
would it hinders our progression.
Even the researcher have not found,
the key to open, our inner mind,
some do believe, it's fixed nature,
while other think, we are flexible.
As we pass through different phases,
from childhood, teenager to adult years,
our mentality is influenced by experiences,
helping us to change our ways.
And we might acquire newer traits,
modified steadily with interventions,
practicing self-control, improving self-esteem,
we evolved into a higher being.
So, what's in a personality test?
Let not the test, be our final decree,
it's a map, not a prison, a chance to be,
embracing the unknown, the chapters untold...
For, the truest version, is yet to unfold.
