Tears...
Saline solution of eye,
a thousand meanings,
conveyed with the flow.
From childhood to adults,
the voice of caring human heart,
speaks volumes in each drop.
Yet, I wonder,
when I see misty eyed,
animals on the streets.
Do they have feelings?
Coming out sometimes,
showing us inner emotions.
For, they don't cry,
don't even show the sign,
of emotional intelligence.
In a survival of the fittest world,
it just wouldn't benefit,
broadcasting their weaknesses.
Even in human, it varies
'Basal tears', for lubrication and cleaning.
Coming from accessory lacrimal glands.
Then there's 'Reflex tears'
responding to irritations and injuries,
functioning of primary lacrimal glands.
Yet, it's the emotional tears,
that depend on mental state,
coming from lacrimal glands.
It's what make us special,
sobs of sadness, unique to man,
signalling stress and vulnerabilities.
Tears...
It strengthens our social relationships,
inhibit aggressions, promote empathy,
in our time of sadness or happiness.
Still, I do want to believe,
even if the researches say otherwise,
that animals too cry...
In their moments of sharing.
