There's a reason, we strive,
earn the riches, in our lives,
for the dreams, and ambitions,
we would chase higher positions.
We do have circumstances,
some restrict, others give chances,
our nature influences decisions,
based on desires, and requirements.
For, basic needs might be same,
still, individual or social expectations,
fuels our hearts, make us pursue,
professional & financial successes.
Wealth, is the visible parameter,
bringing respect & recognition,
while pushing social comparisons,
forming a sense of self-worth.
Yet, it comes with a price,
corrupting our heart with time,
when the intentions are strayed,
controlled by insecurities or pride.
And soon, we become compromised,
when money, intoxicates our mind,
we lose sight, of things important,
for the fleeting pleasures...
Of materialistic possessions.
