Mithai

Soaked in sugary syrup,

with most desired flavors,

completing many meals,

as accessories for gatherings,

they are our guilty pleasures. 


Mithai... 


From milk or fresh cheese,

to the flour of grains & lentils,

a variety of desserts made,

using herbs and spices,

and a lot of oil in cooking. 


The taste of ancient Malpuas,

Ladoo, Barfi, immersed in ghee,

regional varieties & specialities, 

of Peda, Petha, Puran poli,

added depth into diversities. 


There are many popular ones,

regardless of places of origin,

Gulab Jamun, Jalebi & Rasgulla,

assortment of Kulfi and Halwas,

became part of our celebrations. 


Mithai... 


They cater to our sweet tooth,

but are unhealthy, being harmful,

when we don't limit our indulgence, 

damaging body’s capacity for balance,

getting afflicted with various ailments.
