We have been too busy,
to ever take any time,
for the land we live,
for the food we eat,
for the water we drink,
and the air we breathe...
Till someone put a price tag on it.
For, they were free,
blessing of nature's benevolence,
the product of the hard work,
in their struggle for survival,
of the earthworm and insect underground,
of the vegetation, large or small,
of the glaciers, and floating clouds,
of the flowing wind, without barriers.
Still we took them for granted,
their silence was considered consent,
when the government was involved,
when the leaders turned blind eyes,
when the population was ignorant,
having the power to shut the protests.
We have been too busy,
every call for help is ignored,
even their despair, means nothing,
in the loud noise of developments,
we kept growing, we kept demanding,
all the available resources,
snatched from their very existence.
