I have prayed, my dear...

I have prayed, my dear...

In whispers, for I feared,

of being considered selfish,

in my needs and desires.

And I knew, was aware,

of the love, we shared,

yet, the distance kept building,

for the dreams, we aspired.

I have prayed, my dear...

In the aches, silent tears,

of the pain, in the longings,

yearnings for your company.

And I tried, to convey feelings,

with words, acts and symbolism,

hoping to change the status quo,

by having an understanding.

I have prayed, my dear...

For the pain, we would bear,

from the hurt of separations,

forcing us to make decisions.

And I couldn't say these thoughts,

with confidence, give you assurance,

letting doubts, creep in our mind,

two loving hearts, met with silence.

I have prayed, my dear....

Even in these passing years,

only if things were different,

there's no more time, to repent!
