An auspicious day,
which we celebrate,
but most are unaware,
of deeper message.

We pray to lord Dhanvantari,
our prime deity for Ayurveda,
emerged during Samudra Manthana,
holding the kalash (pot) of Amrita.
(Nectar of immortality)
For, he is the divine physician,
imparting knowledge of medicine,
leading us to path of longevity,
through science of healthy living.
We worship Goddess Lakshmi,
seek blessings of lord Kubera,
buying gold, silver ornaments,
while cleaning and decorating homes.
Each custom, embedded in our traditions,
provided us insights, for better conditions,
through the renewal of our efforts,
we come closer to ideal lifestyles.

It's the festival to promote health,
for, health is our foremost wealth,
when blessed with such fortunes,
we could grasp the teachings,
Of Dhanvantari...
