"Where have you been?" Lata's father Shyam Singh asked with a worried face.
The group consisting of the Tall and strong build Dhanush, the nervous oy Lochan, high spirited Sambhu and youngest of them all, the bubbly Lata had been missing for a day. Their families and the rest of the villagers had been waiting for them to return from their visit to the forest. They should have returned by evening but they came in the noon next day, when the sun was over their head.
The adults crossing the valley, the normal hangout of those kids, hadn't seen them in the evening of the previous day. It had made their parents panic as they were fearing that the children might have met any accidents. They were also planning to send a search party if the wait was for a day more. Shyam singh wanted to go in the night itself as his beloved Lata was a sheltered child and everyone's darling probably because her mother had died. The parents of boys had faith in them and were giving assurance to Shyam and stopped him for a day.
"We overslept, and took shelter in the cave for the night." Sambhu lied to change the matter.
" Yes, and we also took blessings from goddess Sikhareswari," Dhanush joined as he game a signal through eyes to Lata and Lochan.
Lochan remained silent as he was not good with telling lies and Lata was hugging his father. After the meeting near the gates of the village, everyone went for their work. Dhanush and Sambhu took the food and collectibles to give them to Raju, the village merchant. They had separated some for themselves and for their relatives.
It was mostly herbs, seeds, fruits and mushrooms which were sold in high prices. These were only grown inside that forest as the surrounding was best for their growth. That way they also helped in the earning for their family. Lata only tagged with them sometimes to play.
They were tired and directly went to sleep in their respective home. They had a great adventure and were looking forward to have more with their new spirit friend Parvati. They kept it as a secret among themselves and told a different story for their absence.
The next morning, they had simple play with their village friends and helped their parents in the field. The same went for few day.
"I am missing Parvati.' Lata said, 'She might be lonely. Shouldn't we go to meet her."
Dhanush also felt the same and was relieved that the topic was brought up by Lata herself.
"Agreed, we must visit her tomorrow, but we need to return by evening." Dhanush supported Lata.
Sambhu and Lochan too accepted the plan and made preparation for the same. Lata packed some home cooked food for Parvati, so that they could have lunch together. They also decided to embark on their journey in early morning, so that their gathering could be finished by noon and then they would have few hours to play with Parvati.
So, the next day came and as per plan, they started early.
"I am feeling sleepy.' Sambhu complained, ' can we go a little later." Sambhu was not much of a morning person. Lochan was pulling his hands.
"No can do. If we don't start early, we will reach late and then may not return home by evening." Dhanush told sternly.
Everyone became silent after that. Dhanush was holding hand of Lata and both were walking in the front while Lochan was supporting Sambhu as they walked on.
